Halo 4 Limited Edition

Halo 4 Limited Edition Cover

The Halo 4 limited edition is now available for pre-order. With this pre-order will include things like DLC maps, an Infinity briefing packet and much more. 343i has announced that there will only be two editions released, the regular edition($60.00) and the limited edition ($99.00).

What You Get:

War Games Map Pack Access

The competitive multiplayer modes of Halo 4 are known as War Games. The Limited Edition includes access to nine maps – three future competitive multiplayer map packs, each including three locations, available for download post-launch on Xbox LIVE. Yes, you read that correctly; you get nine maps in the form of future DLC with the purchase of the Halo 4 Limited Edition. Score!

Specializations

Everyone will have access to select Specializations, but those that purchase the Halo 4 Limited Edition will receive the ability to unlock six Specializations early, available at launch on Xbox LIVE. You can use them, one at a time, to achieve higher ranks in your Spartan career.

In addition to gaining access to new ranks, Specializations unlock new customization options. We’ll be releasing more information about Specializations at E3, so expect additional details about this particular feature then.

UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet

The UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet includes a Spartan armor customization schematic, information about UNSC weapons, an introduction to the massive ship UNSC Infinity, and insight into what it means to be one of humanity’s finest warriors: The Spartan-IVs. Story lovers will especially enjoy this in-fiction offering that provides a glimpse into the indoctrination of Spartans aboard the Infinity.

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Special Edition

The Special Edition of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is a 90-minute extended version of the live-action digital series which will take fans back to the terrifying beginning of the Human/Covenant war, when the Master Chief inspired a young cadet who would eventually become a leader aboard the UNSC’s greatest vessel ever: the UNSC Infinity.

Digital content also includes in-fiction bonus content that expands the characters and stories of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, special featurette Bringing Gaming into Reality, and a behind the scenes look at the making of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn

Bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE

The Limited Edition includes the following bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE: unique in-game Spartan-IV armor skin, unique in-game weapon skin for the Assault Rifle, an exclusive in-game emblem, Xbox LIVE Avatar prop, and Xbox LIVE Avatar Spartan IV armor set.

Right about now you may be wondering, “If all those things come with the Limited Edition, what are they going to put in the Legendary Edition?” Here is the answer to that question: There will be two options available at retail for Halo 4 – the regular version of the game and the aforementioned Limited Edition. We decided to focus our efforts on a single special edition instead of numerous ones so you wouldn’t have to pick and choose between what ancillary items you want. Now your primary choice is whether or not you just want the game, or the game along with all the goodies. And we’re hoping we made that decision an easy one for you…

What do you say? Are you guys going to buy it?

  • Tomi

    Im gonna buy both :)

    • Tim

      Haha but why?

    • A DIRTY HOBO 59

There is only 1 special edition so buying both would mean buying the game and buying the limited edition.

  • Tomi

Lol im joking, im gonna buy the limited edition

    • A DIRTY HOBO 59

Yeah me too! I can’t wait to pre-order it I wasnt this game so bad! Only 20 days till E3!! :D

  • Thane

I hate how every single game company makes a game, and then makes another game with a few extra items + skins that should have just been shipped with the original game anyways, and then charges almost half the original games price. As much as a love Halo, I fear that this will only get worse and worse. I’m going to take that thirty dollars, and buy Indie games instead of feeding the beast. And hey, if they have to resort to tempting people with new armour and skins, the original game probably isn’t as great as it could be anyways. Still, I’m disappointed, I was hoping that 343 would make a nice complete game. No other form of media/art does this. you don’t have to deposit a quarter to see the rest of a painting, you don’t have to go back to the movie theater counter to pay for the second half of the movie….

    • Thane

Sorry, I mean a little bit more than half the games original price in addition the the total price. 99 – 60 = 39, so about 40 dollars for some stupid skins, and some maps that they could just release for free if they were nice. Ridiculous.

      • Truth

No offense…but your an idiot. Any game that has a special edition will give you special stuff for buying it (the whole point of the special edition)! If there was no special edition many fans would be very upset because that’s what they have gown to expect from Halo! And in almost every triple A game EVER there is DLC which usually includes new maps! And new maps is exactly one of the bonuses you get with the limited edition which you will receive when the maps are available on the Xbox marketplace! DLC is a way for game company’s to get a little extra money for all of their hard work they put into their games, so shut up and get out!

        • Thane

          How’s that grass, sheep? BAWWWWW!

          • Thane

Seriously thought, you’re paying the price for a whole new game, possibly even more than that, just for a few extras that could have easily been free. and it’s not like they’re not gonna make their money anyways. It’s just greed, pure and simple.

          • RAGE

…you…just…broke my brain…..I just spent 10 minutes pointing out all the ways you are horribly wrong with those comments in an all caps rage but I just couldn’t put into words how ignorant that comment was and erased it all…how psychotic you must be if you believe yourself to be correct…seriously I hope dearly that you are just a moronic troll because if your really that ill minded you shouldn’t even be aloud to own a computer. Please just stop it! You have enraged me to such an extreme degree with your utter stupidity that I can no longer put it into words….

          • Thomas

Well if you were to buy the regular edition ($60) plus all the DLC (around $40) than you would have paid the same amount of money for the game so your argument is already invalid (atleast with the way the Halo 4 special edition is going to work). Plus the special edition will come with a book ($5-$10), full length movie ($20) and in-game exclusives (you cant get unless you get this version of the game). So add that all together and you will be saving $25-$30 if you were to buy everything seperately.

          • Thomas

you dont only get DLC with the LE. you are really an idiot.

          • Truth

ARE YOU KIDDING ME! FIRST OFF YOU GET 9 MAPS! WHICH IS EQUIVALENT TO 30$ IN MS POINTS! AND YOU ALSO GET HALO: FORWARD UNTO DAWN A 90 MINUTE FILM WITH BTS (WORTH AT LEAST 20$), A BOOKLET INTRODUCING YOU TO WEAPONS AND THE UNSC INFINITY (WORTH 5-10$), AND A FEW EXTRA PIECES OF DIGITAL CONTENT (WORTH 15-20$)
YOUR SAVING AT LEAST 30$ BY BUYING THE LIMITED EDITION YOU IDIOT! AND DON’T YOU DARE BRING UP “WHY THEY DIDN’T JUST INCLUDE THE 9 MAPS TO THE DEFAULT GAME” AGAIN BECAUSE THAT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED AS “EVERY COMPANY HAS DLC FOR GAMES”!!!!!!!!!!

          • Truth

IF YOUR SUCH A BIG HALO FAN THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE HEARD OF SPARTAN OPS! HOW’S THAT FOR FREE CONTENT! EVERY WEEK! FOR A YEAR!!

        • ShaveICEbaby

Who doesn’t take offence to being called an idiot? And, yeah Thane you are an idiot, for not understand 343, and Microsoft’s point of view, of milking every dime out of the people that love this franchise…

          • Truth

Ok so I take it your an idiot too!? It’s DLC! everyone does it! What’s your problem!?

          • Thane

You people just don’t get it. Do you really think that a couple of maps is really worth the price of a whole game??? Fucking retarded fanboys. You are the reason gaming is going downhill.

          • Thane

What about Valve? They made portal 2 a complete game, and even found a nice way to add extra content. and they did it for free. 100% free DLC months after release. Why couldn’t bungie do that? Why can’t 343 now?

          • Linxz6

Thane, what are you talking about? Every Halo game since Halo 2 has had a limited edition. And 343 is giving you free DLC via Spartan Ops. Finally if you don’t want to spent the extra money then don’t buy the limited edition, no-one is forcing you to buy it.

          • Linxz6

Also, Halo 3’s legendary edition cost 150 dollars, 50 dollars more than this.

    • Halo4Dabest

      You sir are a derp.

  • Squatchmen

@Thane – This is a great deal and value to buy, and on top of that gaming is anything but going downhill.

I’m probably going to pre-order this edition, it looks pretty sweet. It also has a legitimate limited edition metal casing unlike Reach’s.

    It’s a steal

  • SlayeRLZ

LOL limited edition is awesome… Thane is an idiot! I have the Legendary Edition of Halo 2, 3 and Reach and they are awesome and they all add a lil bit to the priceless game that Halo is. Get out of your mom’s basement and get a real job so you can afford to buy games and shut up!

  • SlayeRLZ

And btw, just as the same as Bungie gave us some free DLC stuff in Halo 3 and Reach, 343 will probably do the same with Halo 4. So you can stop whining…

  • Caleb O’Quinn

thane you are an idiot no life that is clueless and trys to degrade halo. just go cut some grass and get money to buy it.

  • Halo4Dabest

I wanna get limited edition but at the same time i dont. Everything is great except the 6 specilazations you get early just cuz you paid more. Hopefully It doesnt take long to get 6 speciliazations or they don’t give you that much of a headstart or advantage cuz I feel like if I pay more Im cheating I dont want to cheat and be ahead I want to be on the same playing field but get all the goodies that don’t affect gampeplay. You know what I mean?

    • http://halo4nation.com/ spencer hodges

i get what your saying but still if u wanna get just get it and dont use the specializations and then still have all the good stuff u know. :D hope it helped

  • spencerhodges

meh, i wanna get limited but i know i can only be able to get regular. :(

  • http://halo4nation.com/ spencer hodges

OMG is it just me who noticed that it said, “assault rifle” skin, anyone remember the “battle rifle” artic skin… people there might be weapon skins for all guns when the game comes out, so 343 must be hiding the fact that there might be loadout skins for all the guns you can have in the loadouts, so people look foward to a possibility of weapon skins, i love being observant. :D

  • http://halo4nation.com/ spencer hodges

and honestly i think with each site like amazon, gamestop and places where you can pre order all should come with an exlusive skin for each loadout weapon and also a helmet along with the armor skin which would be for regular edition, who else agrees that would be awsome?

  • hartham

if im correct there would be 3 DLCs each at $20 which would all add up to an extra $60 so that means you would save $20 if you got limited :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000257557245 Jack San-ja Lawrence

i bought the lemited edition and the Halo 4 xbox because my xbox sounds like a fucking typoon eurofighter taking off. but i think £70 is a good deal for the game, codes, dlc and a halo film :D
